About

Who’s behind Paperplanes? That would be me! I’m Mathilde Barbaroux, a professional freelance translator and project manager based near Grenoble, capital of the French Alps. Languages are my passion. But one language in particular will always have a special place in my heart: my native French. So full of life and rich in subtleties.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a thing for discovering new languages and cultures. English and German came first, then Spanish and Chinese. And I’m still practicing these languages today. This was a sign that I was destined for a profession where I could marry my excellent command of foreign languages with my mastery of French.

A few years later, I had a Master’s in translation and a wealth of experience working in translation agencies. It was time for the next step. My dream was to offer my own end-to-end language solutions. And that’s how Paperplanes was born. From my desire to convert copy into French without the reader being able to guess the original language. To do this, I only translate in my specialist fields, and I always meet your specific requirements while ensuring consistent terminology. My motto? Flexibility, responsiveness, and an eagle eye!
